Exciting Ways to Slash Debt (pt 1)

This topic is so important I am going to preface it with an explanation of why controlling debt is so important. Reducing debt is the key to financial prosperity and reducing stress. Ramsey Solutions, run by Dave Ramsey (a financial expert in the US), conducted a study in 2018. They found “money fights are the second leading cause of divorce, behind infidelity.” They also noted: “Almost half the couples with $50,000 or more in consumer debt say money is a top reason for arguments.”

I don’t think a study is required to figure out that debt causes anxiety and puts a strain on relationships, but this work points to the magnitude of the problem.

Create Excitement

I want to have fun repaying debt — that is my goal! I remember when I was younger and the fun I had doing simple and often stupid things. I would spend endless hours at the swimming pool, riding my bike through mud puddles, and play soccer in the streets. I am still looking for exciting and entertaining things to do. Why not make debt repayment more enjoyable?

This will probably sound weird but I actually find it fun to pay off debt! Maybe fun is not quite the right word, probably rewarding is a better one. I pay off my credit cards several times a month just because it feels so good to check my…
