A Millionaire that Mows His Own Lawn?
#2 in the series: Live like a Millionaire.
I have often heard the argument that if you are a millionaire, you shouldn't do menial tasks like mowing your lawn. The philosophy behind this is that the time spent doing the lowly maintenance tasks around your home could be better spent earning more money in your own business.
So, pay a neighbor kid $20 bucks to mow your lawn, and you, the brilliant and talented millionaire, could spend an hour or so earning, say, at least $100 or more doing whatever it was that made you a millionaire. Because the millionaire has a higher earning power, pay someone to do the lowly stuff, and let the millionaire do the stuff that made the millionaire a millionaire.
I have heard this argument from an acquaintance of mine who owns his own business and often hires out work for others to do. He pays people for things like home repairs, plumbing, and cleaning. These are all projects he could do himself, but he would rather pay someone else and focus his time on his business. Or, even spend the money so that he can take a break and not work so hard.
The logic of the argument makes a lot of sense. But I have never approached things that way.
In fact, I think the whole idea is a bunch of crap.
