A Grand Battle Rages…

And the victor gets your money.

Advertising is big business. It is an enterprise focused almost solely on moving money out of your pocket and into the coffers of corporate America. That’s not a bad thing; it is just a reality. I make no distinction here between who is right and who is wrong. North American companies employ people like you and me, and jobs are a great thing to have in this economy.

But corporations have hired an army of advertising executives and salespeople to plan and scheme of ways to remove your hard-earned dollars from your bank account. The point of this post is to be vigilant.

I have pulled some advertising stats from the automotive industry, not to single out any particular corporate venture, but to make use of some easily accessible data.

According to Statista.com,

“It was calculated that in 2020, the automotive industry in the United States spent 12.42 billion U.S. dollars on digital advertising in the country.… The average advertising spending of car dealers in the U.S. was documented in 2020 and broken down by medium. Internet was considered the most valuable medium to invest in, as an average car dealership spent 273 thousand U.S. dollars on internet advertising that year.
